QR Code Printing Checklist
- Dark code on a light background. Light-on-dark codes fail in many scanner apps.
- Keep the white border around the code. Cropping it is the most common reason printed codes do not scan.
- Size it right: at least 0.8 in (2 cm) on a business card, and about 1/10 of the scanning distance on signs (a sign read from 10 ft needs a 1 ft code).
- Use the SVG or the largest PNG for anything bigger than a postcard.
- Add a short call to action next to it, like "Scan for the menu" or "Scan for 10% off".
- Test-scan a printed proof with both an iPhone and an Android phone before printing the full run.

Is it really free?

What is the difference between static and trackable (dynamic) codes?
A static code holds your link directly, so it can never change and cannot count scans, but it never depends on anyone else. A trackable code holds a short sandensolutions.com/qr link that forwards to your page, which is what lets you count scans and change the destination later.
Can I change where my QR code goes after I print it?
Yes, for trackable codes. Open your private manage link, enter the new address and save. The very next scan goes to the new page, no reprint needed.
I lost my manage link. What now?
If you added your email, search your inbox for "QR code management link". Without the link there is no way to prove a code is yours, so we cannot recover it. Make a new code and save the link this time.
Will a logo or colors stop it from scanning?
Not if you keep a dark code on a light background with good contrast. With a logo we switch to the highest error correction and clear a clean space in the middle, and the checker beside the preview warns you before you download a risky design.
How are scans counted?
Each time someone opens your code's link counts as a scan. Link previews from apps like Facebook, Slack and iMessage, and search engine bots, are not counted. Days are in US Eastern time.
