How to Write Cursive j
Stroke Instructions
Start at the baseline and make an upward stroke to the midline. Without lifting your pen, curve down past the baseline into a descender loop. The loop swings to the left and curves back up, crossing through the downstroke at the baseline. Finish with an exit stroke to the right. Add a dot above the letter between the midline and top line.
Tips for Success
- Think of it as a cursive 'i' with a descender loop
- The loop below the baseline should be smooth and consistent
- Remember to add the dot above after completing the word
- The crossover should happen right at the baseline
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Making the descender loop too large or too small
- Forgetting the dot
- Not crossing back through at the right point
