How to Write Cursive i
Stroke Instructions
Start at the baseline and make a short upward stroke to the midline. Curve slightly and come back down to the baseline, then add a small exit stroke to the right. After completing the main stroke, go back and add a dot directly above the letter, between the midline and top line.
Tips for Success
- This is one of the simplest cursive letters to learn
- The stroke up and back down should be smooth, not angular
- Place the dot directly above the letter, not off to the side
- Don't forget to dot your i's after writing the whole word
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting the dot
- Making the stroke too tall (it should only reach the midline)
- Placing the dot too far to one side
