Charles starts with the capital C curving into the tall h, which is one of the trickier openings in cursive. The ar combination in the middle is smooth, and the les ending flows naturally. Seven letters with a strong visual presence.

These letter pairs need extra attention. Here's how to connect them smoothly.
The capital C ends with a short rightward stroke at the baseline. Push up into the h's tall stem from that low connection. The height jump is dramatic.
The a exits at the midline into the small cursive r. Keep the r low, just a small bump.
The l drops from its height into the e's rounded shape. The transition should be smooth, not angular.
The Ch opening is the hardest part. Practice that capital-to-tall-letter transition repeatedly.
The r in the middle should stay small. It connects the a and l sections.
The les ending is common in English. Let those three letters flow together as a unit.
